Undergoing extensive assessment, the leading accreditation scheme recognises CLEAN’s extremely rigorous standards in health and safety management amongst contractors. The standard is commended by thousands of organisations in the UK including SMEs and FTSE100 companies, who make use of the Alcumus-approved list to identify SafeContractor accredited service providers.

CLEAN’s company application for SafeContractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business. SafeContractor accreditation will also enhance the company’s ability to win new contracts, and its commitment to safety will be viewed positively by its stakeholders.

Employing more than 1,450 people across England, CLEAN predominantly supplies textile rental and laundry services to the hospitality sector, delivering upwards of five million linen items to its customers each week. CLEAN’s diverse customer base includes major hospitality players such as Compass Group, Edwardian Hotels London, The Arora Group, Malmaison, Hotel du Vin and Hilton.

Speaking of the latest achievement, Sarah Cooper, Chief People Officer at CLEAN, said: “Here at CLEAN our mission expands beyond just our customers, as we work from a foundation of excellence to enable the delivery of a safe workplace for all employees. Gaining accreditation from SafeContractor provides evidence that we’re achieving this mission and is testament to the CLEAN operations team who have delivered extensive health and safety checks and implemented procedures to eliminate potential risks across all seven of our laundry sites, head office and customer service centre.”

Gemma Archibald, Director of Alcumus SafeContractor, added: “Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place.”

“More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that CLEAN has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector. SafeContractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process.”
