CLEAN was awarded the prestigious RoSPA Presidents Award for maintaining high standards in all aspects of health and safety for a second time. The President's Award is given only to a few select organisations that have achieved ten or more consecutive RoSPA Gold Medal Awards.

CLEAN scoop the prestigious RoSPA Award, demonstrating its dedication to ensuring our colleagues, customers, and contractors get home safely at the end of every working day. Organisations receiving a RoSPA Award are recognised as world health and safety practice leaders. They can demonstrate well-developed occupational health and safety management systems. This culture is aware of and able to identify potential hazards, outstanding control of risk and very low levels of error, harm and loss. Now into its 67th year, the Awards have almost 2,000 entries every year, covering nearly 50 countries and a reach of over seven million employees.

Matt De La Bertauche, Head of Health, Safety and Environment at CLEAN, said: "At CLEAN, we believe that Workplace Safety is the fundamental right of our employees and others who work on our premises. We have brought together a management team who share my passion for safety. CLEAN's Senior Leadership Team and Senior Managers fully accept their commitment to their moral and legal Health & Safety responsibilities, providing and maintaining the highest levels of safety to our workforce. Active commitment is promoted throughout the organisation, at all levels, through adherence to our H&S standards. Minimising the risk of injuries and ill-health to our employees and those in our control is at the heart of CLEAN's philosophy of achieving "Everyday Excellence - Everyday Safety".

CLEAN has received its RoSPA Presidents Award as a result of its tireless work promoting sensible and proportionate controls to manage all work-related Health and Safety risks. Active engagement and collaboration with our colleagues help the organisation to return every employee home safely to their friends and family at the end of their working day. The Health and Safety team at CLEAN have built further confidence through the standardisation of policies and processes, other improvements to their health and safety management system, and by developing even more visually led educational and training materials that a diverse workforce can easily interpret. Near miss and safety observation reporting has been critical to its ongoing health and safety success. By recording data, trends and patterns can be analysed using our Measuring and Monitoring Safety Performance system. It's an adage that you cannot manage what you cannot see. Improving health and safety within our workplace requires Visible, Active Leadership and Engagement. The active identification of hazards makes redesigning our work environments to drive the right safety behaviours possible.

Julia Small, RoSPA's Achievements Director, said:

"Accidents at work and work-related ill health don't just have huge financial implications or cause significant disruption – they significantly impact an individual's quality of life. That's why good safety performance deserves to be recognised and rewarded.

"We are thrilled that CLEAN has won the RoSPA Presidents Award and would like to congratulate them on showing an unwavering commitment to keeping their employees, clients and customers safe from accidental harm and injury."

The focus of our health and safety strategy at CLEAN is prevention. To drive the residual risk as low as is reasonably practicable, we encourage every colleague at CLEAN to recognise the real dangers in their workplace and to work collaboratively with their site Duty Holder, Line Management and co-workers to eliminate hazards or to control them. While CLEAN is honoured to have achieved such a prestigious award, we never take this for granted. This has been down to our employees, our true health and safety heroes!
