CLEAN Receives its Fifth RoSPA Presidents’ Award in the Programme’s 70th Anniversary Year
Posted on May 01, 2026
Fourteen years of consecutive Gold Awards. Five Presidents’ Awards. One unwavering commitment to bringing everyone home safely.
When a health and safety award is won once, it marks a moment. When it is won fourteen years in a row, it speaks to something far more enduring. This year, CLEAN has been honoured with the RoSPA President’s Award for the fifth consecutive time, placing it among an elite group of organisations that have achieved the RoSPA Gold Medal Award for ten or more consecutive years.
In a programme that now attracts 2,000 entries from nearly 60 countries, that kind of consistency does not happen by accident.
A milestone year for a milestone achievement
2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the RoSPA Awards, run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents. What began seven decades ago by RoSPA as a modest recognition of UK companies taking worker safety seriously has grown into the largest and most prestigious health and safety awards programme in the world.
Receiving the President’s Award in this landmark year carries particular weight. It places CLEAN not simply as a current high performer, but as part of a broader, long-running story of progress in workplace safety. A story built, year after year, by the people who show up, follow the process, and look out for one another.
The work behind the recognition
Awards like this are rarely won in boardrooms. They are earned on the ground, through the daily habits and decisions of people across every part of the business.
CLEAN's approach to safety is built on clear foundations: standardised policies, well-developed risk control systems, and educational materials tailored to its workforce. Crucially, the business has invested in a culture where near-misses and safety observations are recorded and analysed, not ignored. That discipline, maintained consistently over time, allows patterns to be spotted and problems to be solved before they become incidents.
The result is a practical, people-first approach to safety that colleagues, customers and contractors can genuinely rely on.
What it means for CLEAN’s customers
For the organisations that rely on CLEAN to deliver linen and workwear services day in, day out, this recognition matters beyond the headline. A partner operating to the highest safety standards is a partner whose people are well supported, well trained, and equipped to deliver consistent, dependable service.
Safety and service quality are not separate priorities at CLEAN. They are two sides of the same commitment, and this award reflects both.
In their own words
Chris Bell, Director of Safety and Sustainability at CLEAN, said:
“Fourteen consecutive years of the RoSPA President’s Award is a remarkable achievement and a true reflection of the dedication and hard work of our teams. This recognition belongs to everyone at CLEAN who, year after year, upholds the highest standards in safety and sustainability. We are incredibly proud, and we are not done yet.”
Julia Small, RoSPA's Growth Director, said:
“RoSPA congratulates CLEAN on their RoSPA Health and Safety Award. The high standards CLEAN has achieved are the result of hard work and dedication. 2026 is a landmark year for the RoSPA Awards as we reflect on how far workplace safety has come in 70 years. It is because of the commitment of health and safety leaders like CLEAN that people today are safer at work than in the past, and it sets an inspiring example for the future.”
