Our Camberley laundry has been awarded a prestigious 2018 Toast of Surrey business award.
Situated in York Town Industrial Estate, the state-of-the-art Camberley laundry specialising in bed linen, towelling and table linen serving a diverse range of hospitality and catering businesses in London and the south east of England, secured the ‘Professional Services’ title.
Entered by Surrey’s business elite, the awards celebrate businesses from across a range of sectors and are designed to recognise the innovative people and companies who are putting the region on the map by boosting the economy while making a positive contribution to the local community.
Judges from category sponsors Elev8 Finance were particularly impressed by the laundry’s sustainability efforts, which are now being used as an environmental blueprint with many of the technologies being implemented at CLEAN’s six other sites.
The revolutionary Camberley site, which is CLEAN’s second largest laundry, has achieved a reduction of gas consumption by 64% and electricity consumption by 25% (v’s replaced plant) as well as a reduction of 6,287 tonnes of CO2e, if today’s volumes were produced at previous efficiencies.
Other winning aspects included CLEAN’s approach to ethically sourcing its linens and its Driver Training Academy, which has been developed to help combat the shortage of 60,000 drivers within the HGV sector. The three-stage plan provides high-quality training to upskill not only CLEAN’s drivers but is of benefit to the wider UK economy.

Investment has recently taken place throughout all areas of the laundry including technology services and management, vehicle tracking, driver training and product improvement.”
Camberley’s Site Director Neil McColl and Engineering Manager Larry Armitstead accepted the award on behalf of the company at a ceremony held at Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge on Wednesday, 27 June 2018.
