How St Martins Lodge solved its linen supply problem

Sinade Hartley and Simon Wilson explain how a 28-room boutique hotel opposite Leicester Cathedral went from unreliable linen deliveries to a supply it no longer has to think about.
St Martins Lodge is a 28-room boutique hotel opposite Leicester Cathedral, the resting place of Richard III. The hotel is owned by the Diocese of Leicester, and its proceeds fund the Church's charitable work, so every operational decision has to earn its keep.
For a while, linen was the decision causing the most trouble. The previous supplier's deliveries were unreliable, particularly around bank holidays, and the housekeeping team was left short on more than one occasion. Covering the gaps meant emergency orders that were neither cost-effective nor sustainable, and hours spent counting, sorting, and checking linen that should have been spent looking after guests.
In this film, Operations Manager Sinade Hartley and Finance Director Simon Wilson explain what changed when the Lodge switched to CLEAN. It started with a full audit of the hotel's linen requirements and a tailored stock plan covering in-use, reserve and emergency items. The beds moved to Oria, our 300-thread-count, 100% cotton sateen range, chosen for the crisp look and feel a boutique hotel trades on. And behind the daily deliveries sits our network of seven laundries, which is what keeps the service steady through bank holidays and sudden spikes in occupancy.
A year in, the linen arrives on schedule, guest reviews have improved, and the housekeeping team has stopped worrying about stock.
As Sinade puts it in the video: "With hotels, you never know what's going to happen. But I find that if I ring CLEAN, it makes it better. A lot better."
