Special Occasion Linen serves The Championships, Wimbledon 2018 with ace table linens

Everyone is aware The Championships, Wimbledon is a major highlight in Britain's sporting and social calendar, but behind the scenes it also hosts Europe’s largest sporting catering operation each year.

While watching world-famous tennis stars battle it out on court is the main reason people visit The Championships, Wimbledon, it is also the aim of its organisers – All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) – to provide the finest setting and facilities for the entertainment and enjoyment of its 450,000 visitors each year.

Food and drink is an integral part of the experience, which is why the AELTC has made a range of dining options available for visitors, all of which require beautiful table settings.

Staff at CLEAN's laundry in Ross-on-Wye have therefore been working around the clock to ensure the steady supply of 124,000 pieces of linen for use by Levy UK the Compass Group UK & Ireland owned on-site caterers during the renowned tennis tournament running from 2 to 15 July.

Delivery drivers visit the site every evening to drop off clean linens and remove dirty ones, working within a tight time-frame to minimise disruption. This week alone, CLEAN drivers will deliver 2,000kg of linen to Wimbledon each day.

To ensure the smooth delivery of linens to 80 different areas across the site, including its reservation-only Wingfield Restaurant and debenture and hospitality restaurants, CLEAN's very own Customer Service Operations and Events Manager Liz Guilding remains on-site where she also checks that returns are recorded correctly and are ready to be collected by drivers every evening.

CLEAN has supplied table linen to the official caterers of The Championships, Wimbledon – Levy UK – since 2012.

This year CLEAN supplied:

• 67,512 napkins
  
• 31,214 service cloths,
  
• 23,506 square and rectangular table cloths
  
• 1,561 round table cloths

The cloths and napkins are being supplied in 14 different colours:

Arctic White, Jet Black, Natural Cream, Cinnamon, Olive, Summer Lavender, Mint Green, Viola Italian Napkin, Forest Green, Royal Blue, Sage Green, Blue Heather, Purple Iris and Mandarin Orange
