CLEAN was among only 44 organisations to receive an accolade. The Camberley and Slough sites won Gold for their rigorous health and safety protocols and relentless hard work to ensure the safety of their drivers and, in turn, other road users. This year, Camberley won their second Gold award, and Slough won their third Gold award, in addition to a Silver award from their first entry four years ago. The Ross-on-Wye site achieved a Silver award on its first attempt.

CLEAN’s Head of Transport, Peter Cox, said: “Given the day-to-day operational and service requirements, it is remarkable that our transport teams were able to achieve this success. The Camberley and Slough Transport teams have again proven their excellence by winning a ROSPA Fleet Safety Gold Award. I am delighted to see their efforts recognised again. Huge kudos and credit must also go to the Ross-on-Wye team for their Silver award.

“This is the fourth year the business has entered the RoSPA Fleet Safety Awards. The fact that three laundries have entered and won an award validates the “one way of working” strategy implemented across the business. Our approach to road transport safety is one of consistency. Consistent messaging, training methods and materials have helped us fully support our drivers’ continued professional development. While introducing independent collision investigations further extends this fair and consistent approach by removing any conjecture and emotion, allowing us to isolate the root cause while identifying trend analysis. This year we have introduced our 24/7 crisis response plan and significantly raised safety awareness for those of our people who drive when at work while reminding them how vulnerable drivers are on the road network. In 2024 we plan to expand the number of sites entering the awards and build upon this success. Award wins like this validate our aim to maximise compliance and operate as safely as possible while cementing our position as a DVSA Earned Recognition exemplar accredited operator.”

Organisations that receive a RoSPA Award are acknowledged as world-leaders in health and safety practices. Every year, nearly 2,000 entrants vie to achieve the highest possible accolade in what is the UK’s longest-running health and safety industry awards. The Fleet Safety Awards follow RoSPA’s Managing Occupational Road Risk (MORRTM) principles. They are judged on verifiable historical performance data of accidents and the identification of an effective, cohesive corporate road risk management programme.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s Achievements Director, said: “This is a fantastic and well-deserved accomplishment. All our award entrants have demonstrated their unwavering commitment and passion for keeping people safe at work. By receiving this recognition, CLEAN’s transport operation joins like-minded transport teams at organisations worldwide, representing the best in their approach to managing occupational road risk.”

CLEAN was also awarded the prestigious President's Award, presented only to those organisations that have achieved 10 or more consecutive RoSPA Gold Medal Awards for maintaining high standards in all aspects of health and safety across the business.
