CLEAN are finalists in the 'Safety in Operation Award’ that recognises excellence in a company-wide safety culture or a specific safety-related initiative and the 'Partnership Award’ categories. The latter being for our work with Pertemps PDT Fleet Training to launch our Driver Academy and Skills Bootcamp programmes training the next generation of drivers for CLEAN.

CLEAN Head of Transport Peter Cox said: “To be shortlisted for not one, but two awards is a great achievement for the business and underlines all the excellent work the transport teams are doing at individual laundry site level and centrally against the backdrop of the real-life operational challenges they all face each and every day. At CLEAN, operating safely is not just a tick box exercise, it remains our number one objective, we are pleased to report we have reduced accident rates by 65% in the last three years. Our ongoing practical and theoretical training programmes and robust processes are vital in making this happen.”

He went on to say “We are particularly proud to have been nominated for the Partnership Award. We have worked closely with Pertemps PDT Fleet Training to develop CPC training modules for our 180+ drivers for some time, and this year we took this to the next level by collaborating with them to roll out our Driver Academy and Skills Bootcamp programmes. As the country rebounds from the effects of the pandemic, we set a clear objective to become to become an employer of choice for both existing and aspiring professional drivers. To ensure we were able to achieve the objectives we set ourselves, and allow us to compete with much larger organisations, it was vital we partnered with the best supplier possible. Our relationship with Pertemps PDT Fleet Training gives us access to industry experts, expert knowledge, and the capability to achieve the ambitious milestones we set ourselves. We have made a significant investment of time and money to improve the development pathway from newly qualified to professional HGV driver while ensuring drivers feel supported and stay within the business.”

Now in its 36th year, the Motor Transport Awards have long been seen as a benchmark for excellence among UK road transport fleet operators, vehicle manufacturers and innovators. It has been an incredibly tough time for transport teams throughout the country, who are faced with driver shortages, vehicle scarcity and many other challenges. As ever, transport and logistics departments have found a way to keep on delivering the goods for UK plc throughout the coronavirus pandemic and beyond. Recognising their excellence and rewarding the huge achievements of the people and companies that have been going the extra mile is more important than ever.

Winners of the awards will be announced in a glittering ceremony held at Grosvenor House Hotel, London in September.

CLEAN's Motor Transport Awards shortlisting’s come as it has also just celebrated attaining DVSA Earned Recognition Status and securing a RoSPA Fleet Safety Award Gold.
